Câteva întrebări...
 
Te-ai întrebat vreodată de ce oamenii nu reușesc să economisească mai mult, ci din contră continuă să se îndatoreze deși resimt pe propria piele efectele negative?
De ce aproape toți amânăm activități despre care știm cu certitudine că ar fi utile în atingerea obiectivelor noastre?
Sau facem alegeri care se dovedesc a fi departe de ce ne-am dori cu adevărat?
De ce companii cu idei bune de afaceri nu reușesc să reziste pe piață?
De ce guvernele nu își pot convinge cetățenii să își plătească taxele într-o mai mare măsură?
 
Lista se poate extinde la nesfârșit deoarece există numeroase probleme contemporane care nu pot fi rezolvate doar făcând apel la factori obiectivi și analize complet raționale, așa cum propune știința economică în forma ei tradițională.
 
Și un posibil răspuns
 
Domeniul economiei comportamentaleîncearcă să găsească răspunsuri la aceste întrebări printr-o abordare interdisicplinară, care să includă variabile subiective și non-monetare în analiza proceselor decizionale și al interacțiunilor strategice. Parafrazându-l pe Lawrence Summers, fostul președinte al Universității Harvard, mediul economic actual ilustrează din ce în ce mai mult necesitatea de a avea cunoștinte de bază despre calculul probabilităților, statistica și analiza deciziilor, alături de principiile psihologice de bază ce guvernează multe dintre comportamentele noastre economice.
 
Programul de master “Economie Comportamentală” (în limba engleză) își propune să răspunde acestor nevoi de formare și să pregătească specialişti ce își doresc să își dezvolte abilitățile manageriale, de analiză interdisciplinară a fenomenelor economice și sociale, de consiliere și consultanță individuală și la nivel de organizație.
 
Este un program de master unic la nivelul țării noastre, iar disciplinele cuprinse în planul de învăţământ abordează cele mai noi direcții în cercetarea economică contemporană, cu accent asupra inflexiunilor interdisciplinare (psihologie, sociologie), aspectelor metodologice (din sfera tehnicilor experimentale și a neuroștiințelor), analizei multidimensionale a datelor (implementată prin programul open access R) și a gândirii critice.

Dintre acestea, amintim:

-  Economie comportamentală (I și II);
-  Metode de cercetare în ştiinţele comportamentale;
-  Comportamentul consumatorului;
-  Metode statistice parametrice și neparametrice pentru economie comportamentală;
-  Introducere în neuromarketing;
-  Cogniţie socială;
-  Economia sănătății;
-  Finanţe comportamentale;
-  Principii de teoria comportamentală a jocurilor;
-  Economie experimentală;
-  Gândire critică;
-  Reţele economice şi economia complexităţii;
-  Teme speciale de econometrie pentru cercetarea în economie comportamentală;
-  Fundamentele comportamentale ale politicilor publice.
 
Perspectivele de carierăsunt multiple, urmărindu-se construirea unor calificări profesionale în sfera consultanței economice, a antreprenoriatului și a mediului de afaceri, cât și a unor calificări specifice activității de cercetare.

La nivel național, debușeele profesionale vizează:

·Companii multinaționale (pe diverse arii de cercetare de piață, analiză organizațională, analiză strategică etc.)
·Organizaţii guvernamentale şi non-guvernamentale (în direcția fundamentării comportamentale a politicilor publice și a diferitelor programe cu impact social) ;
·Firme de training și consultanță;
·Întreprinderi mici şi mijlocii ;
·Mediul academic și de cercetare

La nivel internațional, oportunitățile se multiplică deoarece există un interes crescut pentru aplicarea principiilor comportamentale la diferite nivele:

·Marea Britanie (dar nu numai) are un departament specializat pe aplicarea principiilor de economie comportamentala (The Behavioral Insights Team) cu numeroase studii experimentale de teren pentru îmbunătățirea diferitelor probleme socio-economice (http://www.behaviouralinsights.co.uk/)
·Comisia Europeanăpromovează cercetarea în domeniu, accentuând numeroasele sala aplicații empirice (https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/research/crosscutting-activities/behavioural-insights)
·Compania Ernst and Young propune un întreg raport despre cum rezultatele din economia comportamentală pentru fi folosite în mediul de afaceri pentru a crea valoare adăugată organizațiilor și consumatorilor

Description



BEHAVIORAL ECONOMICS IN ENGLISH (EC EN) 

The Master Program in Behavioral Economics, offered by the Faculty of Administration and Business together with the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences from the University of Bucharest, aims to help prepare specialists in the areas of decision processes and strategic interaction. In order to achieve this purpose, we use an approach which integrates the different mechanisms governing economic behavior.
The program is intended for people who wish to develop their skills in areas such as management, interdisciplinary analysis of economic and social phenomena or consulting, be it at an individual or organizational level.
The program’s objectives can be summed up as follows:
-          To form a group of specialists which have a complex and interdisciplinary training in the area of business administration;
-          To develop scientific and consulting activities, in relation to the business environment, in line with the perspective and methods found in behavioral economics;
-          To enhance economic education at the university level, by creating an advanced research and teaching platform in the emerging domain of behavioral economics (while integrating resources and knowledge from other interdisciplinary domains);
-          To assist the faculty by supporting life-long learning on focused topics, both at the individual level as well as through participation in research projects (financed at the national or EU level);
-          To cooperate with other universities, from the country or from abroad, in order to develop a modern and efficient education system.
Moving beyond the standard practical competencies covered by the program, we also aspire to involve the master’s students in relevant interdisciplinary research activities.
The program is taught in English, so as to facilitate the involvement of specialists from the international community and to ensure that the knowledge is at the cutting edge of new discoveries in this area of study.

The teaching methods focus on two areas: business practice, involving case studies and company level projects, and experimental studies, with the purpose of bringing to light cause and effect relationships between important variables.
The general competencies gained by the students, with the aid of the master’s program are, among others: the ability to analyze and summarize complex economic phenomena, the capacity to understand and explain behavioral patterns and their impact on economic decisions, the ability to design methods which can be used to bring forward causality relationships between different economic and non-economic variables, which have an impact at the level of the company, the ability to solve strategic interaction problems, the ability to use specialized knowledge with the purpose of offering business consulting etc.
The professional competencies gained by students, with the aid of the master’s program, are:
-          The ability to offer consulting for strategic decision making processes, building relationships and creating programs which stimulate the development of trust, involvement and empowerment of employees, business partners and other stakeholders.
-          The knowledge of how to adjust stimulants, strategies and development policies for the organization, in relation to changes on the market, while also considering the internal environment of the company.
-          The capacity to communicate in an efficient manner, taking into account important economic and non-economic variables, along with psychological and sociological factors.
The career prospects of the graduates involve working for one of the following types of employers:
-          Multinationals
-          Public institutions
-          Consulting companies
-          Small and medium enterprises
-          Non-governmental organizations
Or doing the following types of work:
-       Market analyst
-       Decision support system designer

Master program in Behavioral Economics
 
The entrance selection to the master program in Behavioral Economics:
 
The applicants will submit a research project proposal concerning a practical problem of interest for them. The proposals will be reviewed by the Admission Committee and graded based on their structure, clarity and relevance for the field of Behavioral Economics. Critical thinking, concision and writing are skills that will be of a great importance, as well as basic knowledge in fundamental concepts that Behavioral Economics addresses.

RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL

Have you ever thought on how could you determine people (including yourself) to exercise more, consume less, pay their taxes, make some savings and in general achieve their objectives?
 
Have you ever wondered yourself where the differences between your economic behavior and another person’s economic behavior arise? Have you ever wanted to know whether poor people have different economic behaviors patterns than reach people? And have you ever liked to know what’s the best incentive to make people (including yourself) to save more, spend less and yet live happily?
 
If the answer is yes and you have identified some type of problematic behavior which needs an intervention, the master program in Behavioral Economics is the perfect framework for preparing a feasible and significant solution.
 
You should send us your concerns and preoccupations in the form of a concise description of the issue (max 8000 characters), according to the following structure and instructions. If you go over the word count, the evaluation committee will delete the extra words and will assess your proposal based on the truncated text.

Then, prepare for the evaluation: we will be evaluating your research project proposals on July 26th! And you will know the results by the end of that day. 


Required documents



In order to apply for the master program in Behavioral Economics you need the following documents:
 
·         Identity Card (simple copy)
·         High School Diploma (in original or certified copy)
·         Bachelor Diploma (in original or certified copy; only for 2014 graduates a temporary certificate is acceptable, stating that he/she graduated and the mark received at the final bachelor exam)
·         Birth Certificate (certified copy)
·         Marriage Certificate (certified copy; if the case)
·         English Certificate (simple copy)
·         Proof of fee payment (the payment is exempted in some specific cases, which need certification: at least one parent is a teacher, both parents are deceased et.al.)
·         4 photos (ID type)
·         Medical certificate (stating the he/she is clinically healthy and able to attend faculty courses)
·         CV, in Europass format (2 copies)
·         Letter of intent (presenting the experience and motivation – 2 copies)
·         An application form (available on the registration site)
·         Your project proposal (2 copies)
·         A folder type `envelope`
 
The copies of the documents should be brought at the Secretariat. The calendar of the admission exam will be announced as soon as the University of Bucharest will release it.
 
The applicants who don't have an English Certificate are invited to come at the Faculty of Business and Administration for an evaluation. Details will be available along with the information about the admission exam.
 
The applicants who are not UE citizens need diploma recognition for their bachelor diploma. They are invited to contact for guidance the Foreign Office of the University of Bucharest.
